Last updated and effective date: 12 January 2026

Acceptance of Terms of Service

The services provided by scrub.media (the “Service” or “Services”) are offered subject to acceptance without modification of these Terms of Service and all other operating rules, policies, and procedures that may be published from time to time in connection with the Services. By using the Services in any manner, you agree to be bound by this agreement.

“The Site” refers to the websites operated by scrub.media, including scrub.media, as well as any associated applications, services, features, content, and functionalities offered by scrub.media.

Service Description in plain English

scrub.media provides tools to remove metadata from files you submit for processing. The Service is intended to strip metadata only and does not alter the visible content of your files.

For free-tier usage, file processing occurs entirely on your device and files are not uploaded to scrub.media servers. For paid users who opt into background processing, files may be temporarily uploaded solely to complete the requested operation and are automatically deleted within a short retention window.

Eligibility and Age Requirements

By accessing the Services, you confirm that you’re at least 18 years old and meet the minimum age of digital consent in your country. If you are not old enough to consent to our Terms of Service in your country, your parent or guardian must agree to this agreement on your behalf.

Rules and Conduct

As a condition of use, you promise not to use the Service for any purpose that is prohibited by the Terms of Service. By way of example, and not as a limitation, you shall not (and shall not permit any third party to) take any action that:

  • Violates any applicable law, rule, or regulation.
  • Infringes upon any intellectual property or other right of any other person or entity.
  • Is threatening, abusive, harassing, defamatory, libelous, deceptive, fraudulent, invasive of another’s privacy, tortious, obscene, offensive, or profane.
  • Generates or disseminates verifiably false information with the purpose of harming others.
  • Impersonates or attempts to impersonate others.
  • Generates or disseminates personally identifying or identifiable information without lawful basis or consent.
  • Imposes or may impose an unreasonable or disproportionately large load on scrub.media’s infrastructure.
  • Interferes or attempts to interfere with the proper working of the Service or any activities conducted on the Service.
  • Bypasses any measures scrub.media may use to prevent or restrict access to the Service.
  • Uses any method to extract data from the Services, including web scraping, web harvesting, or web data extraction methods, other than as permitted through an allowable API.
  • Reverse assembles, reverse compiles, decompiles, translates, or otherwise attempts to discover the source code or underlying components of the Services that are not open (except to the extent such restrictions are contrary to applicable law).
  • Reproduces, duplicates, copies, sells, resells, or exploits any portion of the Site, use of the Site, or access to the Site without express written permission.

You agree that you will only upload content that you have the legal right to use and process. You must have explicit permission from any individual whose content you upload, and you are responsible for ensuring that content does not violate the privacy or publicity rights of others.

You agree not to upload, post, or share any content depicting minors that is illegal, exploitative, or abusive. Where files are uploaded for paid background processing, scrub.media may use automated systems to process such files solely to provide the Service and comply with applicable law. scrub.media does not manually review file contents except where required by law and may report suspected child exploitation, endangerment, or abuse to appropriate authorities.

DMCA and Takedowns Policy

scrub.media respects the rights of copyright holders. If you have a good faith belief that copyrighted material on the Site is being used in a way that infringes the copyright over which you are authorized to act, you may make a notice of infringing material. We have implemented procedures described in the Digital Millennium Copyright Act of 1998 (“DMCA”), 17 U.S.C. § 512, regarding the reporting of alleged copyright infringement and the removal of or disabling access to infringing material.

Licensing Terms

Subject to your compliance with this agreement and any limitations applicable by law:

  • You are granted a non-exclusive, limited, non-transferable, non-sublicensable, non-assignable, freely revocable license to access and use the Service for personal or business use.
  • You retain ownership of all files you upload and all output files produced by the Service.
  • You grant scrub.media a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, process, and transmit your files solely to provide and operate the Services, to comply with applicable law, and to enforce our policies. This license applies only where files are uploaded to scrub.media systems and ends when such files are deleted, subject to legal retention requirements.

Each person must have a unique account and you are responsible for any activity conducted on your account. A breach or violation of these Terms of Service may result in an immediate termination of your right to use our Service.

Fees and Payments

You agree that scrub.media provides you immediate access to digital services and begins service consumption immediately upon purchase. To the extent permitted by law, you expressly waive any right to withdraw from this purchase. Due to the nature of the Service, we do not offer refunds unless required by law.

scrub.media offers paid subscription plans that automatically renew on a monthly or yearly basis. You may cancel your subscription at any time through the website prior to the renewal date. If you cancel, you will not receive a refund or credit for any amounts already billed or paid.

scrub.media reserves the right to change pricing, features, or usage limits. Changes to pricing for active subscriptions will not apply until the next renewal period.

Unless otherwise stated, Fees do not include applicable taxes, duties, or similar governmental assessments, which you are responsible for paying.

Termination

scrub.media may terminate or suspend access to the Service at any time for violation of these Terms. Either party may terminate the Services at any time. Upon termination, all rights and licenses granted to you under this agreement will immediately terminate, and any provisions which by their nature should survive termination shall survive.

Indemnification

You shall defend, indemnify, and hold harmless scrub.media and its affiliates, employees, contractors, directors, suppliers, and representatives from all claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses, including reasonable attorneys’ fees, arising out of or related to your use of the Service or violation of these Terms.

Limitation of Liability

IN NO EVENT SHALL SCRUB.MEDIA OR ITS AFFILIATES BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING LOSS OF PROFITS OR DATA, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES. SCRUB.MEDIA’S TOTAL LIABILITY SHALL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF THE AMOUNT PAID BY YOU FOR THE SERVICE OR $500, TO THE EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW.

Disclaimer

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT, TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW.

Dispute Resolution by Binding Arbitration

PLEASE READ THIS SECTION CAREFULLY.

Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service shall be resolved by binding arbitration in accordance with the American Arbitration Association’s Consumer Arbitration Rules, except that either party may bring individual claims in small claims court where permitted. You waive any right to participate in a class action or jury trial.

Arbitration shall take place in Texas or remotely by mutual agreement. You may opt out of arbitration within thirty (30) days of first using the Service by sending written notice to scrub.media.

Choice of Law

These Terms shall be governed by the Federal Arbitration Act and, where applicable, the laws of the State of Texas, without regard to conflict of law principles.

Changes to These Terms

scrub.media may update these Terms from time to time. Changes will become effective no earlier than fourteen (14) days after posting, except where required by law. Continued use of the Service constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
